Christopher Gallu is the Producing Artistic Director, and a founding company member, of Catalyst Theater Company.  He is a director, writer and former actor, having worked at many DC theaters.  For Catalyst, his directing credits include 1984, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, The Trial and The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, which received the inagural Helen Hayes award for Outstanding Ensemble as well as nominations for Outstanding Director and Outstanding Resident Production. He recently directed TempOdyssey at Studio Theater’s 2ndstage, a production that was part of a nation-wide world premiere under the auspices of the New Play Network.  Other directing credits include numerous readings and workshops at 2ndstage, Theater Alliance, and Rorschach Theatre.  He has also assisted on plays at 2ndstage, Studio Theater, Olney Theater Center and Theater Alliance.  He has written several plays, including adaptations of George Orwell’s 1984 and Frankz Kafka’s The Trial, both of which he also directed.  Two of his original plays, Motion Sickness and Over: or Those Crazy Kids! have been presented at the Kennedy Center’s Page-to-Stage Festival.  As an actor, he appeared in several Catalyst productions, including Woyzeck, No Exit, The Learned Ladies and Shkspr Prjct, where he was part of an ensemble that received a Helen Hayes award nomination for Outstanding Choreography.  His production work includes several Catalyst productions, most notably The Elephant Man and We Are Not These Hands.  He is a graduate of Penn State University, the Studio Theater Acting Conservatory and attended the Neighborhood Playhouse Theater’s summer acting training program.
